
Biography
Alison Ma is an active Hong Kong piano accompanist collaborating frequently with instrumentalists and singers. She has performed internationally in London, New York, South Korea, Taiwan, and Hong Kong. She has performed in numerous prestigious venues, including the Wigmore Hall, Carnegie Hall, LSO St. Luke’s, Sinfonia Smith Square, the Italian Cultural Institute of London, the Austrian Cultural Forum of London, and Tsuen Wan Town Hall.
Being praised for her musicality and sensitivity to vocal nuances, she was awarded the Major Van Someren-Godfrey prize and the Elena Gerhardt Lieder prize in the Song Recital Prize, and the Rex Stephens Prize for Accompanists (First Prize) in the Schumann Lieder Prize at the Royal Academy of Music. She has also performed with choirs, including the Chung Chi Choir of the Chinese University of Hong Kong, the School Choir of Belilios Public School, and The Greeners’ Sound.
Alison is currently studying at the Royal Academy of Music, pursuing a Master of Arts in Performance (Piano Accompaniment) under the tutelage of James Baillieu, Michael Dussek, and Andrew West with a full-tuition scholarship supported by the Hong Kong Scholarship for Excellence Scheme. Previously, she obtained her Bachelor of Arts in Music with first-class honours from the Chinese University of Hong Kong. She has previously studied piano with Dr. Timothy Kwok Ka-ho and Ms. Ko Suk Han.
